When someone asks ChatGPT who to call, is it you?

A buyer asks the chat window who to call and gets three names back. No list, no ten blue links, no second page. If you are not one of the three you were never in the running.

Free, and we read it ourselves. No pitch, no obligation, and 805.243.8321 if you would rather talk.

Somebody just asked who to call. Here is the answer they got.

Three companies come up most often. Northgate Industrial1 has the strongest recent reviews for this work. Halloway & Sons2 is listed across the main trade directories. Merrick Fabrication3 says plainly on its own site that it specializes in it.

Sources

  1. 1 A trade directory listingOne of the handful of places the engines read before they answer
  2. 2 A review profileRecent, plural, and saying what kind of work you do
  3. 3 A competitor's own pageBecause it states plainly what they make and who for
A mocked-up answer, not a screenshot. The names are invented; the shape is real.

It did not decide you were worse. It read four things, and yours did not agree.

These tools repeat what they can find and trust. The footnotes on the answer above come from a small, boring set of places, and you own all four of them.

1 Your business details Name, address, phone, hours and what you do, read off half a dozen places at once. Two of them disagree, so the engine names somebody it can identify.
2 Directories and industry sites The listings these tools read before they will repeat anything about you. You appear on your own website and nowhere else.
3 Reviews How many, how recent, and whether they describe the work you want more of. Plenty of stars, nothing in the words that says what you do.
4 Your own pages The answer stated in one plain sentence, near a clear heading, in text. The facts are in a PDF or a graphic, a locked door to every one of these tools.

“AI search” is not one thing. Each one answers a little differently.

Which is why the work is not four campaigns. Fix the facts once and every one of them is reading a cleaner version of you, from whichever direction it happens to look.

ChatGPT

Answers in a paragraph and names a few companies, with links to the pages it drew on.

Perplexity

Cites a short list of pages per question and names only the companies found on them.

Google AI Overviews

Sits above the normal results and summarizes pages Google already ranks for the question.

Claude

Cites what it reads sentence by sentence, and names what it can back up with a source.

Do not take our word for any of it. Five minutes tonight settles it.

Open ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, and ask each of them what your customers ask. Read who gets named and which sites the answer quotes.

  • best [your service] in [your city]
  • who makes [the thing you make]
  • who should I call for [the problem you fix]

If you are named, read which sources it quoted. That is the shortlist of places worth keeping clean and current.

If you are not, note who is and what the answer says about them. That sentence is the one your own pages cannot yet say.

Here is what comes back to you before you spend a dollar with us

Send us your address and we ask the engines your buyers' questions. Four things come back in writing.

What the engines say about you now

What ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity answer when somebody asks for what you sell, word for word.

Who they name instead

The competitors coming back in those answers, and what the engines can read about them that they cannot read about you.

What your pages are missing

The facts, the structure and the schema an engine needs before it will repeat you with any confidence.

What it takes to get named

The work in the order it has to happen, with the hours scoped, so the number is in front of you before you decide anything.

What people ask us about getting named by AI.

Do we have to sign a contract?

No. There is nothing to sign and nothing to cancel, and we have never locked anybody in. You stay because the work is earning, and the month you decide it is not, you stop.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will name us?

No, and neither can anyone else. Nobody outside those companies controls how the tools were trained or which words they pick today. What we can do is fix the four things they read about you, then show you what changed.

How long before AI starts naming us?

It depends on which of the four sources is weakest. Fixes to your own pages and business details are quickest to make. Reviews and directory listings build over months, because the tools have to see them settle before they trust them.

Is this just SEO with a new name?

Same raw material, different job. Search hands over a list of ten links. These tools hand over one answer, so being the name inside it beats being tenth on a page. The clean details feed both at once.

When do we see a price?

Before you commit to anything. We read the whole picture, scope the work and project the hours, and the number arrives in writing. It does not move quietly afterwards.

Where are you, and how do we meet?

Ventura, California, and Long Island, New York. Zoom works for most of it. If you are near either one, we would rather sit down with you.

The Truth About AI Search

“The AI did not weigh your worth and pass. It found a competitor's facts cleaner, and that is a fixable problem.” The Final Code

We run your buyers' questions against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, show you where a competitor takes the answer instead of you, and hand you the fix list in the order worth doing it.

It is the same clean information behind the rest of our digital marketing, so the work here also feeds local SEO and video marketing. The longer read on how these engines work is in our AI Knowledge Center.
